Brief Bio
MSc Nicolás Palomares is a researcher at the Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia. Industrial Engineer specialized in Mechanics works in the Human Factors Area at IBV leading and participating in different projects about transport and occupational health. He has been involved in several research projects funded by the Seventh Framework Programme, acting as the technical coordinator of the EU project RUNSAFER. At present he is the project coordinator of the project SUaaVE (Supporting acceptance of automated VEhicle) funded by the European Commission under the H2020 Programme.

SCOPE

While the deployment of connected automated vehicle (CAV) turns into reality, its acceptance has been called into question. Public acceptance is a multi-faceted construct, tightly related to emotional processes and trust in a new technology, beyond the accomplishment of functional performance.

In order to address this issue, one of the objectives of the project H2020 SUaaVE (Supporting acceptance of automated VEhicle), under grant agreement No 814999, is the conceptualisation of the fundamental architecture to humanise the behaviour of the vehicle. In particular, this concept will be aimed to understand passengers’ state based on their physiological response and, from this information, to manage corrective actions in vehicle for enhancing trip experience.
